I’m confused about something bible-related…
In the book of Genesis, God tells Adam and Eve they will die if they eat the fruit…but they don’t die. He lied so they wouldn’t gain knowledge and know good and evil like him. I know the bible says Jesus never sinned, but doesn’t it say God is perfect and doesn’t sin as well? Because technically that’s wrong because he lied…
Also, Adam and Eve are the only people right? Then they have 2 sons, Cain and Abel. Cain kills Abel and God basically expels him from the land and tells him he must be a wanderer of the Earth and Cain responds that he is scared he will be killed because he is a fugitive or something like that…so then God replies that if anyone kills him they’re punishment will be much greater and blah blah blah…but who’s going to kill him? Aren’t the only people alive Adam, Eve and Cain? Or am I missing something?
The bible makes it really hard to be a Christian, and that’s only the first few pages.
I really need to stop staying up so late thinking by myself…
I think the difference is that when he said “you will die” he meant that they would no longer be immortal. They did, in the end, die.
I thought about that, but it sounded so immediate when I reread it. Maybe that’s just the version I read but it seemed like he just said it to deter them. If that was the case why not be straight up and instead be like, “listen guys, eating the fruit will open your eyes to good and evil but it will piss me off, I’ll have to kick you out of the garden and you’ll eventually die”? And that still doesn’t explain why Cain is paranoid about being killed…but thanks for responding lol I’m not sure anyone else will.
